| Event remarks | Common small shrub to c. 1 m. Young parts densely covered with purple-claret hairs. 'Nervilliform' lines clearly visible; leaves similar to M. perlarius but inflorescence very different: zig-zag racemes. Corolla white with reduced stamens; ovary lemon yellow. Young fruits green ripening yellow without dark striation when fresh; some fruits galled. (N.B. teeth when placed in spirit turn brown within 5 minutes and spreading slowly through the lamina.)
